Baycats defeat Mississauga 4-3 in 12 innings
The Barrie Baycats improved to 8-2 on the season as they defeated the Mississauga Twins by the score of 4-3 in 12 innings Thursday night on the road. With the victory, Barrie moves into a tie for first place with the Brantford Red Sox.
For the Baycats, starter Chris Kemlo went seven innings allowing three runs on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts in a no decision. Chris England pitched the next three innings allowing just one hit with six strikeouts. Kyle Payne closed out the game throwing two innings of shutout ball for his second victory of the season.
Leading the Barrie offense was Matt Logan and Glenn Jackson who both went 3-for-5. Ryan Spartaro contributed with two hits and an RBI. Jackson drove in the game winning run in the top of the 12th with a two out single scoring Matt Richardson. Stevie Lewis and Dave Latour both drove in one run each in the victory.
Nick Fogarty went 5 1/3 innings for Mississauga allowing three runs on seven hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Adam Banski was charged with the loss allowing one run on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts over two innings of work.
Carlos Garcia and Derek Gordon both recorded two hits and one RBI each. Elliot Scrive also added two hits in the loss.
