The Brantford Red Sox from the Intercounty Baseball League and the COBA Major Etobicoke Rangers played last night in what is becoming an annual pre season event.
The Intercounty Champion Brantford Red Sox prevailed as they held on to a 5-3 win as Brantford snuffed out a Ranger 9th inning rally.
Despite the cold weather the teams played good baseball with pitching as expected at this time of year to dominate. The Red Sox collected six base hits and five walks over the nine innings. Ranger pitchers recorded 14 K's.
The Rangers were only able to get 3 hits from the experienced Brantford pitching staff as Chris Mokriy doubled, Jon Bezanson tripled and Brett Sanders had the final Ranger hit which was a towering Home Run to left center in the bottom of the 8th.
Best of Luck goes out to a classy Brantford Red Sox team as they will try for their 3rd consective Intercounty Championship!! The Rangers will open their COBA Major season in one week as they will host the Dundas Chiefs Friday May 7 @ 7:45.
