Leafs Wallace off to strong start in 2010

The Leaside Leafs starting shortstop Davey Wallace is off to a great start in 2010. In three games this season Wallace has sparked the Leafs offense reaching base safely in 14 of his 16 plate appearances. He currently leads the GTBL with a .778 average (7-for-9), an .875 on-base percentage and seven walks. 

Last season, Wallace batted .433 (58-for-134) with nine doubles and 30 stolen bases.

Wallace was a standout player with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds program. In four seasons at UBC (2003-06), Wallace batted .326 (156-for-479) with 27 doubles, two triples and two homeruns. He also had 73 RBI, 120 runs scored and 73 career walks. In his senior year, he led the T-Birds to 49-14 overall record where he registered single season highs for hits (61), RBI (29), runs scored (44) and walks (34).

He was also equally impressive defensively finishing his university career with a .929 fielding percentage with 209 putouts and 498 career assists while making just 54 errors over four seasons.
