18-hit attack leads Markham over Redbirds 12-2

The Markham Pioneers collected a season high 18 hits which was hightlighted by an eight run fifth inning as they rolled past the Thornhill Redbirds by the score of 12-2 Friday night.

Six Markham players had multiple hit performances led by the duo of Shane Moore and Reg Sarne. Moore had a perfect night going 4-for-4 with a solo homerun while Sarne went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Mark Petrou recorded his first homerun of the season going 2-for-5 with a game high four RBI.

Moore currently leads the GTBL in hits (16), RBI (10), doubles (6) and ranks second in runs scored (8) and third in average (.457).

J. Frederick recorded the victory allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits with five walks and four strikeouts over five innings of work.
