Canadians down Leaside 5-3
The Whitby Canadians opened the Oshawa Invitational Tournament with a 5-3 victory over Leaside Friday night.
Whitby's Brad Crone recorded the victory going the complete game allowing three runs on 10 hits. Leaside's Joe Frugona was issued the loss.
Leading the Canadians offense was Tristan Beadle who went 3-for-3 with three RBI, two stolen bases and a run scored. Rob Patterson was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Julian Daligadu (1-for-3, double run,) and Jason George (1-for-2, RBI, run) rounded out the Whitby leaders.
Leaside's Bryan Rock was a homerun short of the cycle going 3-for-4. Henry Yap also collected three hits going 3-for-4 with a double and RBI while Steve Hopkins went 2-for-2 in the loss.
Six run third leads Rangers past Tecumseh 8-6
The Etobicoke Rangers scored six runs in the third inning off Tecumseh starter Matt Stezycki en route to an 8-6 victory over the Thunder Friday night in Oshawa.
Mike Janes went the distance for Etobicoke allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits with three strikeouts over seven innings. Stezycki was nailed with the loss after lasting three innings while giving up six runs on five hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
For the Rangers, Peter Saweczko went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Matt Ferriera and Damian Eccleton both contributed with one hit while driving in two runs each in the victory.
Tecumseh's Bill Gillen and Dan Romanycia both went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the loss.
