Pennell leads Reds to victory over Markham
Thornhill Reds Justin Pennell made two outstanding defensive plays, and went 3-for-5 with two homeruns, three RBI and two runs scored, as the Reds beat Markham 7-3 on Friday night.

The Reds Ryan Stewart contributed with two hits going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Travis Skelton and Daniel Lehmkuhl added one hit each in the victory.

Thornhill starter Miguel Sammy improved to 2-0 on the season as he pitched five scoreless innings, giving up just two hits while registering two strikeouts. Markham newcomer Min Soo Kim took the loss after allowing three runs (1 earned) on four hits over six innings.

The Pioneers Mark Petrou added two hits in the loss.

Reilly leads Guelph past Twins 5-4
The Guelph Royals defeated the Mississauga Twins by the score of 5-4 Friday night at David E. Hastings Stadium. In the bottom of the 9th, Sean Reilly drove in the game winning run with an RBI single.

Royals starter Brett Lawson went 5 2/3 innings allowing two runs on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts in a no decision. Andrew Vant Wout pitched the final 1 1/3 innings allowing two runs (0 earned) on one hit for his first victory of the season.

For the Twins, starter Kurtis Robinson threw six complete innings allowing three runs on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Matt Bannister suffered the loss after allowing two runs on two hits with five walks and two K's over two innings of work.

Reilly led the Royals going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Guelph had six other players contribute with one hit each led by Brad Cochrane who recorded two RBI and Jamie Pogue who added an RBI double in the victory. The Twins were led by Ian Choy who went 2-for-4 in the loss.

Gotwalt four-hit performance leads Red Sox to victory
With the score tied 7-7 in the bottom of the 9th inning, Brantford's Justin Gotwalt scored on a wild pitch as the Red Sox escaped with an 8-7 victory over the Ottawa Fats Cats Friday night. This was Ottawa's 10th straight loss.

Brantford led 7-3 after 7 innings, before the Fat Cats answered with a four-run 8th to take their first lead of the game 7-6.

Red Sox starter Steve Murray went six complete innings allowing three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts in a no decision. Mark James struggled lasting 1 1/3 innings allowing four runs on three hits with three walks and one strikeout. Stefan Strecker would record the victory allowing two hits with one strikeout over 1 1/3 innings.

Fat Cats starter Matt McGovern went seven complete innings allowing six runs on 10 hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Danny Desclouds was charged with the loss allowing two runs on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Justin Gotwalt had a big night going 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead the Red Sox. Hyung Cho was 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Chris Emmanuel collected two RBI while registering one hit.

For Ottawa, Kyle Barclay, Cody Mombuquette, Marshall MacDonald and Joe Stone all contributed with two hits each. Zach Staniewicz and Mark Charette both drove in two runs each in the loss.
