Stars roll past Tecumseh Jrs 8-1
The Windsor Stars defeated the Tecumseh Jr.s by the score of 8-1 Friday night in Windsor.
Stars starter Steve Carter went the distance allowing one run on six hits with nine strikeouts for his fourth victory of the season.
Bryan Dufour led the Windsor offense going 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Dan Hansen went 2-for-3 with a season high three RBI. Alex Carducci and Dave Mastrodicasa contributed with two hits each in the victory.
Tecumseh's Trudell tosses 1-hit shutout
The Tecumseh Thunder continued to roll as they blanked the Windsor Athletics by the score of 11-0 in five innings Friday night. This was Tecumseh's sixth consecutive victory.
Thunder starter Kyle Trudell was impressive throwing a one-hit shutout while striking out two. Windsor's Kevin Knudson suffered the loss after allowing seven runs (5 earned) on four hits with six walks and one strikeout.
Andrew Masojc continued to lead the Thunder offense as he extended his hit streak to 17 games going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Bill Gillen drove in a season high three runs while going 1-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored. Dan McFarlane also went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored in the victory.
Notes... Masojc moved his average up to .500 on the season (32-for-64)... also ranks among Ontario leaders with 20 runs scored and a .560 on base %.
Papalia leads Oshawa over Markham 10-8 in 10 innings
After leading 7-1 in the 7th, the Oshawa Royals needed an extra frame to put away the Markham Pioneers 10-8 on Friday night.
Chris Papalia's two out two run single and 4th and 5th RBI of the night, in the top of the 10th secured the victory for Darryl Noble and the Royals.
In his Royals debut, Victor Simon went 7 2/3 innings allowing seven runs (6 earned) on 14 hits with one walk and one strikeout. Noble closed out the game throwing 2 1/3 innings giving up one run on four hits with two walks and two K's for his second victory of the season.
The Pioneers Alex Bruce took the loss allowing three runs on one hit with two walks over two innings of relief.
Papalia led the Oshawa offense going 2-for-4 with a season high five RBI. Jason Graham added two hits with an RBI and three runs scored while Jeremy Brittain went 1-for-3 with an RBI, three walks and four runs scored. Adam Morton also drove in two runs in the victory.
Jessie Dynes was 4-4 for the Pioneers, with two RBI and three runs scored. Newcomer Justin Back, looked impressive in his GTBL debut, adding two hits including a double and two RBI.
