Milton downs Metros 6-1
The Milton Red Sox defeated the Niagara Metros by the score of 6-1 at Community Park Thursday night.

Solid pitching and stellar defence set the tone for the Sox, as veteran starter Ian Zettle was solid throwing seven innings of shutout ball. Zettle surrendered six hits, walked three and struck out two as he relied on his defense to keep the Metros off the score sheet. Scotty McTrach closed the game allowing just the one run while giving up three hits.

Milton, although outhit 9-6, drove runs in when the opportunities arose. Kevin Greer was sensational at shortstop, going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and four RBI while fielding everything hit his way. Veteran Kevin Cooper recorded an RBI single, Cavin Bratton and junior call-up, Craig Howse, all registered hits.

For the Metros, Jon Paul recorded three hits and Joe Roach added a pair in the loss.

Toronto defeats first place Baycats 7-6
The Toronto Maple Leafs answered with five runs in the top of the 7th and scored the game winner in the 9th as they defeated the first place Barrie Baycats by the score of 7-6 Thursday night on the road.

Toronto starter Marek Deska went six innings allowing six runs on 10 hits with four walks and eight strikeouts in a no-decision. For the second straight night, the Leafs Ryan Mashinter was victorious throwing two shutout innings with one walk and one strikeout. Cody Powell picked up the save, his first of the season.

Barrie's Paul Spoljaric was solid through five giving up one run on two hits with two K's. Chris Kemlo suffered the loss as he lasted 3 2/3 innings allowing six runs (2 earned) on eight hits with four strikeouts.

Jordan Castaldo belted a three-run homerun for his third of the season to lead the Leafs. Jeremy Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo homerun and two runs scored. Kern Watts also collected two hits while driving in two runs including the game winning RBI single in the 9th. Damon Topolie rounded out the offense chipping in with two hits including a double in the victory.

The Baycats Ryan Spataro went 4-for-4 on the night with two RBI and a run scored. Jordan Lundberg contributed with two hits and two RBI while Stevie Lewis added two hits in the loss.

Brantford wins 6th straight with 8-4 victory over Twins
The Brantford Red Sox rolled past the Mississauga Twins by the score of 8-4 Thursday night. This was the Red Sox six straight victory and 12th win in their last 13 contests.

Brantford starter Marc Andre Major recorded his first victory of the season after going seven complete innings allowing one run on two hits with five walks and seven strikeouts. Colin Buckborough gave up a three-run homerun to Chad Marshall in the 9th.

Twins starter Adam Kudryk was handed his first loss of the season giving up six runs (5 earned) on four hits with six walks and two K's.

For Brantford, Tyler Burnell belted a two-run homerun while Wayne Forman and Chris Emanuele both contributed with two hits each in the victory.

Chad Marshall led Mississauga going 1-for-4 with a three-run homerun. Branson Joseph was held hitless (0-for-4) ending his seven game hit streak.
