Windsor Stars defeat Athletics 3-1
The Windsor Stars defeated the Windsor Athletics by the score of 3-1 for their 10th victory of the season Wednesday night.
Stars starter John Picco went six strong innings allowing one run on five hits with a season high 13 strikeouts. Steve Carter retired the Athletics in order in the 7th for his third save of the season.
Leading the Stars offense was Tom Grubb who went 2-for-3 with a solo homerun and one run scored. Anthony Dufour also went 2-for-3 with a double. Kris Klassen extended his hit streak to 10 games.
Late rally leads Maple Leafs past Hamilton 5-4
The Toronto Maple Leafs overcame a 4-0 deficit answering with five runs in the final three innings including a walkoff homerun in the bottom of the 9th by Jordan Castaldo as the Leafs defeated Hamilton 5-4 Wednesday night.
Toronto starter Matt Walker lasted 6 1/3 innings allowing four runs on six hits with three walks and five K's. In relief, Ryan Mashinter pitched 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball giving up two hits while recording three strikeouts for his first victory of the season.
Hamilton starter Matt Martinow went six innings allowing one run on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts in a no decision. Mike Gottschalk was charged with the loss after allowing the solo shot with two out in the ninth.
Castaldo went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI to lead Toronto. Kyle Morton, Rob Gillis and Jeremy Walker all collected two hits each in the victory.
Hamilton's Matt McGraw went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Jordan Windisch belted a two-run homerun, his first of the season.
Brantford defeats Panthers 7-1
The Brantford Red Sox continued their winning ways Wednesday night at home as they defeated the Kitchener Panthers by the score of 7-1 for their fifth straight victory.
Leading the Brantford offense was Joe Calameco who went 2-for-4 with a two-run homerun and three RBI. Tyler Burnell and Hyung Cho also contributed with two hits each.
Mike Glinka went 3-for-5 with a run scored to lead the Panthers. Ben Kangas chipped in with two hits while driving in the lone run.
The Red Sox Mike Meyers threw six shutout innings allowing five hits while registering a game high eight strikeouts for the victory.
Kitchener starter Ross Davis suffered the loss allowing seven runs on eight hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
