Pennell named "Extra Innings" Senior Baseball Player of the Week

Name: Justin Pennell
Team: Thornhill Reds (GTBL)
Position: Outfielder

Thornhill Reds Justin Pennell has been named this week's "Extra Innings" Senior Baseball Player of the Week. This past week, Pennell led the Reds offense batting .667 in two games going 6-for-9 with one double, two homeruns, four RBI, four runs scored and a 1.444 SLG%. He also made two outstanding defensive plays versus Markham. He currently leads the GTBL and ranks among Ontario leaders with a .515 average (17-for-33) with four doubles, three homeruns, 12 RBI, six stolen bases and a .909 SLG %.

Honourable Mention...

John Amendola, Burlington Brants (COMBL)
This past week, Amendola helped lead the Brants to a 2-1 record highlighted by a 15-5 victory over the first place Glanbrook Grizzlies. That game, Amendola collected four hits including two three-run homeruns, two singles and a game high seven RBI. For the week he batted .600 (6-for-10) with two homeruns, a double, seven RBI and three runs scored with a 1.300 SLG%.

Andrew Mosajc, Tecumseh Thunder (CAN-AM)
Mosajc continues to lead the Thunder offense helping his team to five straight victories this past week. He batted .467 (7-for-15) with nine runs, three RBI, three stolen bases and a .600 OB%. On the season he ranks among Ontario leaders with a .492 average (30-for-61), a .549 on base %, 18 runs scored, eight RBI and six stolen bases. He also extended his hit streak to 16 games.

Dan Romanycia, Tecumseh Thunder (CAN-AM)
In four games this past week, Dan Romanycia helped lead the Thunder to five victories as he batted .444 (8-for-18) with eight RBI, two doubles and three runs scored. On the season he is batting .333 (23-for-69), with four doubles, 14 runs scored, 11 walks, and a team leading 16 RBI.

Mike Arsenault, Whitby Canadians (GTBL)
This past week, Whitby ace Mike Arsenault was one batter shy of a perfect game as he threw a complete game no-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the Canadians 11-0 victory over the Meadowvale White Sox. Arsenault has been the Canadians workhorse with a team leading 37.0 innings pitched. Over those 37 innings he has struck out 56 which includes more than 10 K's in four of his seven appearances. He has an overall record of 4-2 with an impressive 1.95 ERA.

Dustin Turner, Niagara Metros (COMBL)
In his lone start this past week, Niagara's Dustin Turner had his best outing of the season as he threw a complete game 4-0 shutout over the Oakville A's allowing just three hits with a season high 12 strikeouts.

Joe Stone, Ottawa Fat Cats (IBL)
In four games this past week, Stone led the Fat Cats offense batting .583 (7-for-12) with five runs and one RBI. He curently leads Ottawa with a .400 AVG (22-for-55) with eight RBI and 12 runs scored.

Dave Latour, Barrie Baycats (IBL)
This past week, Latour helped lead the first place Baycats to a 2-1 record as he batted .500 going 5-or-10 with a double, three RBI, two runs and two walks. He is currently 10th in IBL batting with a .339 average (20-for-59) wit 14 RBI and 13 runs scored.

Greg Densem, Mississauga (IBL)
This past week, Densem helped lead the Twins to a 4-2 record as he had one of his best week's of the season batting .500 (7-for-14) with one double, two RBI, five runs scored, seven walks and a .696 on base %.

Chris Emanuele, Brantford Red Sox (IBL)
This past week, newcomer Chris Emanuele helped lead the Red Sox to a 4-0 record as he batted .438 (7-for-16), with five RBI, four runs, three walks and an .579 on base % in his first week in the IBL.
