Redbirds end Reds perfect season
The Thornhill Redbirds ended the Thornhill Reds perfect regular season as they defeated them by the score of 9-4 Wednesday night. Going into the game, the Reds were 7-0 in the GTBL and remained the last Senior A team in 2010 with a perfect record.
14-hit attack leads Tecumseh past Athletics 9-3
The Tecumseh Thunder had one of their biggest offensive outputs of the season as they collected 14 hits in a 9-3 victory over the Windsor Athletics Wednesday night.
Five Thunder players had multiple hit performances led by Tom Beale who went 3-for-3. Dan Wolicki went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Dan Romanycia and Ron Rousse both drove in a run each while going 2-for-4 with a double. Andrew Masojc extended his hit streak to 12 games going 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Tecumseh starter Andrew Pierce recorded the victory going five strong innings allowing one run on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Windsor's Bobby Gilligan suffered the loss after allowing nine runs (8 earned) on 14 hits with six strikeouts over six innings.
Kitchener defeats Maple Leafs 6-5 in 11 innings
The Kitchener Panthers recorded their 11th victory of the season as they overcame a 4-0 deficit early on to defeat the Toronto Maples by the score of 6-5 in 11 innings Wednesday night.
Pete Molloy led the Panthers offense going 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Jeff Pietraszko contributed with two hits and his team leading 15th RBI of the season. Mat Taube also collected two hits including a double and two runs scored. Mike Glinka and James Bruce both chipped in with one hit and one RBI each in the victory.
Kitchener starter Brandon Farquhar went nine innings in a no decision allowing five runs on seven hits with six walks and two strikeouts. Tavis Bruce recorded his first victory of the season throwing two innings of shutout ball. Toronto reliever Cody Powell fell to 1-2 on the season after going 3 1/3 innings allowing one run on three hits with three K's.
Maple Leafs Brian Ivan collected two hits in the loss while Kyle DeGrace belted a solo homerun for his third of the season.
