Stars defeat Tecumseh 3-2
The Windsor Stars held on two defeat the Tecumseh Thunder by the score of 3-2 Wednesday night.

Windsor starter Steve Teno pitched five innings of shutout ball before giving up two runs in the 6th inning. He allowed just two runs on four hits while striking out five for the victory. Reliever Brad Boussey allowed one hit in the 7th for the save, his first of the season.

The Thunder's Ron Rousse suffered the loss after allowing two runs on five hits over three innings of work.

Windsor's Dave Mastrodicasa and Bryan Dufour both recorded RBI singles. Tecumseh's Andrew Masojc went 2-for-4 in the loss.

Late inning rally leads Niagara past Milton 4-3
The Niagara Metros scored a pair of runs in the top of the 8th inning as they defeated the Milton Red Sox by the score of 4-3 Saturday.

Milton's Devin Karlsen and Metros TJ Tavender went toe-to-toe against each other on the mound for most of seven innings. Karlsen held Niagara to two runs on four hits over seven innings while striking out two. Reliever Kevin Cooper was tagged with the loss, surrendering a pair of runs in the top of the 8th.

Leading the Metros was Geoff Strong who recorded three hits on the afternoon. Dan Proctor contributed with two hits highlighted by a solo homerun in the 4th.

For the Red Sox, Carlos D'Costa led the way with three hits. Rookie Lee Mathe' added two hits and a pair of RBI while Jon Roth also registered a pair of singles in the loss.

The Sox were retired in order in the bottom of the 9th by Niagara southpaw Dave Davidson, who fanned three straight to earn the save, his third of the season.

Thunder fall to Troy Jet Box 8-2
The Tecumseh Thunder had their four game win streak come to end Saturday as they dropped an 8-2 decision to Troy Jet Box.

The Jet Box had a 14-hit attack led by the duo of Ron Kochan who went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and Adwin Springer who was 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored. Both Kochan and Springer recorded a homerun and double each. Nick Smith contributed with two hits and two RBI while Drew Churchward also added two hits.

Troy starter Mike Borkowski went five strong innings giving up two runs (0 earned) on four hits with two walks and four K's for the victory.

The Thunder's Rob Blunck picked up the loss after going three innings allowing five runs (4 earned) on seven hits with four walks and one strikeout. Dan McFarlane pitched the final three innings allowing three runs on on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Ken Price went 2-for-3 for Tecumseh in the loss.

Lundberg walkoff homer leads Baycats over London 4-3 in 10 innings
The Barrie Baycats Jordan Lundberg belted a walkoff homerun in the bottom of the 10th inning off London reliever Mike Delong as Barrie defeated the Majors 4-3 improving their overall record to 9-2 Saturday afternoon at Barrie Metals Stadium.

Barrie starter Brad Bissell went seven innings allowing three runs on seven hits with one walk and seven strikeouts in a no decision. Reliever Kyle Payne pitched two innings of shutout ball before Chris England got London out in order in the top of the 10th for his first victory of the season.

London's C. Bate went 6 1/3 innings giving up three runs on three hits with eight walks and five strikeouts in a no decision. Delong dropped to 0-2 on the season allowing one run on one hit with five strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings.

Maple Leafs defeat Mississauga 6-4
The Toronto Maple Leafs answered with three runs in the top of the ninth to defeat the Mississauga Twins by the score of 6-4 Saturday at Meadowvale Field.

Leafs starter Jake Gallo pitched six innings allowing four runs (2 earned) on six hits with seven strikeouts in a no decision. Cody Powell retired six straight Mississauga players in the 8th and 9th innings for the victory.

Mississauga's Adam Kudryk went 5 2/3 innings allowing three runs (1 earned) on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Franco Pace was credited with the loss after allowing three runs on three hits in one inning of work.

Gamin Teague led the Toronto offense going 2-for-3 with three RBI which included a solo homerun in the 7th and a two-run single in the 9th. Kyle DeGrace also added a hit and drove in a run for the Leafs.

The Twins Branson Joseph went 2-for-3 with two RBI while Eitan Maoz belted his first homerun of the season.

Ilderton's Latta throws two-hit shutout
The Ilderton Red Army defeated the Niagara Expos by the score of 5-0 in the opening game of the Tillsonburg Red Sox Tournament Friday night. Ilderton starter Jeff Latta went the distance throwing a two-hit shutout.

Glanbrook downs Whitby 6-2
The Glanbrook Grizzlies downed the Whitby Canadians by the score of 6-2 Friday night at the Tillsonburg Red Sox Tournament.

Grizzlies starter Chris Cooney threw a complete game allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts for the victory. Corrie Morrison went 2-for-3 with two RBI and also made a key grab in the 4th inning with two outs ending a Whitby rally.

Whitby downs Woodslee 7-5
The Whitby Canadians improved to 1-1 in Tillsonburg as they defeated Woodslee by the score of 7-5 Saturday morning.

Canadians ace Mike Arsenault registered the victory after going five innings allowing four runs (all unearned) with a game high 12 strikeouts. Reliever Marc Nolan recorded the save.

Trevor Cain led the Whitby offense going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Andre Steer went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base while James Rowe contributed with two hits and a run scored. Brad Crone also drove in two runs in the victory.

Glanbrook advances to semi-finals with 7-2 victory
The Glanbrook Grizzlies improved to 2-0 at the Tlllsonburg Tournament as they rolled past Woodslee by the score of 7-2. Tim Sogan threw five innings to collect the win, while Greg swan threw two shutout innings in relief. The Griz will now take on the host Red Sox in one of two semi-finals Sunday morning.

Thunder roll past Windsor Athletics 9-0
The Tecumseh Thunder continued to roll as they won their fourth straight in the Can-Am League Friday night blanking the Windsor Athletics by the score of 9-0.

Tecumseh's Andrew Masojc had a big night going 5-for-5 at the plate. Tom Beale contributed with a season high four RBI going 2-for-4 with a double and triple. Bill Gillen also recorded two hits and drove in two runs while Dan McFarlane and Ken Price chipped in with one hit and one RBI each in the victory.

Ron Rousse picked up the victory throwing five innings of shutout ball while allowing just two hits. Jason Horvat pitched the final two innings allowing no hits.

The Athletics David Weber suffered the loss after allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 12 hits with three strikeouts over five innings of work.

Brantford blanks Mississauga 2-0
The Brantford Red Sox defeated the Mississauga Twins by the score of 2-0 Friday night at home for their sixth straight victory.

Red Sox starter Mike Meyers recorded his first victory of the season after giving up just two hits over five innings of work with a game high nine strikeouts. Marc Andre Major would pitch the next three innings registering four strikeouts while not allowing a hit. Stefan Stecker would close out the game for his third save of the season.

Mississauga's Shane Cole was issued the loss going seven complete innings while allowing two runs on three hits with five strikeouts.

With two out in the bottom of the 5th, Brantford's Mike Bonanno hit a two-run single for the victory. Branson Joseph went 3-for-3 for Mississauga.


Maple Leafs roll past Hamilton 8-2
The Toronto Maple Leafs rolled past the Hamilton Thunderbirds by the score of 8-2 Friday night at Bernie Arbour Stadium in a game halted by lightning in the ninth inning.

Maple Leafs starter Drew Taylor pitched five strong innings allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits with three strikeouts for his first win of the season.

Jordell Farquharson was the loser for the T-Birds. He went 5 2/3 innings, allowing six runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and five walks.

The Leafs broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning, keyed by a three-run double by Dan Gibbons, and never looked back with a 13-hit attack. Raul Borjas added a two-run homerun and a single while Brian Ivan contributed with an RBI double. Damon Topolie and Jeremy Walker both added two hits for the Leafs.

The T-Birds Chris Piano added a solo homerun and a single and Darnell Duckett collected two hits and an RBI in the loss.

2010 OBA Eliminations Draw

The 2010 OBA Senior Elimination Tournament matchups have been drawn and released.
The 26 team field will look to capture the Eliminations hosted by Lakeside (London) with the champion representing Ontario at the Canadian Championships.

Baycats defeat Mississauga 4-3 in 12 innings
The Barrie Baycats improved to 8-2 on the season as they defeated the Mississauga Twins by the score of 4-3 in 12 innings Thursday night on the road. With the victory, Barrie moves into a tie for first place with the Brantford Red Sox.

For the Baycats, starter Chris Kemlo went seven innings allowing three runs on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts in a no decision. Chris England pitched the next three innings allowing just one hit with six strikeouts. Kyle Payne closed out the game throwing two innings of shutout ball for his second victory of the season.

Leading the Barrie offense was Matt Logan and Glenn Jackson who both went 3-for-5. Ryan Spartaro contributed with two hits and an RBI. Jackson drove in the game winning run in the top of the 12th with a two out single scoring Matt Richardson. Stevie Lewis and Dave Latour both drove in one run each in the victory.

Nick Fogarty went 5 1/3 innings for Mississauga allowing three runs on seven hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Adam Banski was charged with the loss allowing one run on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts over two innings of work.

Carlos Garcia and Derek Gordon both recorded two hits and one RBI each. Elliot Scrive also added two hits in the loss.

Tecumseh's Stezycki throws two-hit shutout
The Tecumseh Thunder captured their third straight victory in the Can-Am Senior League as they blanked Troy Jet Box by the score of 2-0 Wednesday night.

Matt Stezycki threw a complete game shutout allowing just two hits over seven innings while striking out five. Troy Jet Box starter Tom Moore suffered the loss allowing two runs on six hits over five innings.

Leading the Thunder was Andrew Masojc who went 2-for-4 with an RBI including a two-out single in the fifth inning. Frank Jeney and Jody Brown also contributed with two hits each in the victory.

Windsor Stars down Tecumseh Jrs. 6-2

The Windsor Stars picked up their sixth victory of the season Wednesday night as they defeated the Tecumseh Juniors by the score of 6-2.

Steve Carter continued to be the leader on the Stars pitching staff as he went seven strong innings allowing two runs on eight hits with 10 strikeouts for his third victory of the season. In 2010, Carter has pitched 19.0 innings posting a 3-0 record with two saves while registering 26 strikeouts and just two walks.

Dave Mastrodicasa led the Stars offense going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Jake Myers also drove in two runs going 1-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. Carter and Kris Klassen both drove in one run each for Windsor.

Mississauga SW rolls past Etobicoke 10-2
The Mississauga SW Twins continued their winning ways Tuesday night as they rolled past the Etobicoke Rangers by the score of 10-2. With the victory, the Twins move into a tie for first place in the Len Andrews Division with the Erindale Cardinals with identical 5-2-1 records.

Twins starter Adam Paish went six strong innings for the victory. Mark Digiulio making his first appearance on the mound in four years throwing the final three innings.

Jeff Skelhorne-Gross belted a homerun over the centre field fence in his first plate appearance as a member of the Twins. Matt Piccini contributed with two doubles while brother Chris Piccini added a triple and a single. Anthony Fantauzzi also chipped in with a double for winners.

Oshawa falls to Redbirds 4-1
The Oshawa Royals dropped a 4-1 decision to the Thornhill Redbirds Tuesday night on the road.

Thornhill starter Nick Masci shut down the Royals offense allowing just three hits over five innings of work with four walks and one strikeout for the victory. Reliever Chris Gott threw the final four innings for the save giving up just one run on two hits with two strikeouts.

Oshawa's Jason Graham suffered the loss allowing two runs on three hits with five strikeouts over six innings.

The Redbirds David Bernholtz led the offense going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Oren Gal and Erik Brown both drove in one run each in the victory. For the Royals, Jeff Murdoch went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

London captures third straight with 7-4 victory over Royals
The London Majors won their third straight Tuesday night on the road as they defeated the Guelph Royals by the score of 7-4.

London's Ryan Cattrysse had a big night at the plate going 4-for-5 with a run scored. Cris Chambers belted a three run homerun for his first of the season. Chuncey Ward went 2-for-5 with two RBI while Cleveland Brownlee also contributed with two hits in the victory.

The Majors Zachary Breault went seven innings for the victory allowing four runs (3 earned) on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts. In relief, Andy St. Gelais threw two innings of shutout ball with two strikeouts for the save.

Guelph's Brett Lawson picked up the loss going five innings allowing six runs on nine hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. Jeremy Ware was the Royals lone highlight going 4-for-4 with a double, triple and three runs scored.

Barrie downs Kitchener 7-2
The Barrie Baycats scored four runs in the bottom of the 7th en route to a 7-2 victory over the Kitchener Panthers at Barrie Metals Stadium Tuesday night.

Leading the Barrie offense was Matt Logan who went 2-for-3 with a double and a game high three RBI. Dave Latour drove in two runs while going 2-for-4 on the night. Ryan Spataro, Stevie Lewis, and Matt Richardson all contributed with two hits each in the victory.

Barrie starter Adam Hawes went four innings allowing two runs on three hits with five strikeouts in a no decision. Doug Dimma recorded his first victory of the season after pitching two shutout innings with three strikeouts.

Kitchener's Tyler Wilson suffered the loss allowing six runs (three earned) on 10 hits with two strikeouts over six innings.

Moore named "Extra Innings" Senior Baseball Player of the Week

Markham's Shane Moore has been named this week's "Extra Innings" Senior Baseball Player of the Week. In four games over the past seven days, the Pioneers Shane Moore went 10-for-17 (.588) with four doubles and a homerun for a 1.000 SLG%. He also drove in six runs while scoring four times. He currently leads the GTBL in hits (19), RBI (13), doubles (7) and is fourth in batting average .442 (19-for-43).

Honourable Mention....
Kevin Childs, Kitchener Panthers (IBL)
Kitchener's Kevin Childs had a big week at the plate for the Panthers as he batted .588 going 10-for-17 with three doubles and a homerun for a .941 SLG%. He also recorded three RBI and scored three times. Childs is currently batting .429 which is second in the IBL going 15-for-35. He also ranks among league leaders in slugging percentage (.629) having registered five extra base hits.

Tom Grubb, Windsor Stars (CAN-AM)
In three games this past week, Windsor Stars Tom Grubb went 6-for-10 (.600 AVG) with a homerun, seven RBI and four runs scored. In the Stars 10-0 victory over the Athletics he recorded a season high four RBI. Grubb currently leads the Stars in five offensive categories including average .500 (9-for-18), SLG% (.944), doubles (5), homeruns (1) and RBI (8).

David Davidson, Niagara Metros (COMBL)
This past week Niagara Metros pitcher and former major leaguer David Davidson showed that he could also provide some offense as he went 3-for-3 (1.000 avg) with a single, a double and a grand slam with 5 RBI and a 2.333 SLG%. His grand slam and five RBI's came in the Metros come from behind 10-8 victory over Brampton.

Steve Horsley, Markham Pioneers (GTBL)
In two appearances this past week, Horsley went 10 strong innings of shutout ball allowing just three hits with 14 strikeouts. Versus Leaside, Horsley went the distance for his second victory of the season giving up just two hits with six strikeouts. In 18 innings this season, he has a 0.00 ERA having allowed just six hits with 24 strikeouts and a 2-0 record.

Damon Topolie, Toronto Maple Leafs (IBL)
This past week the Toronto Maple Leafs Damon Topolie led the offense batting .625 (5-for-8) with a triple a homerun for a 1.250 SLG%. He also recorded seven RBI and scored twice. In nine games this season, Topolie is currently batting .303 (10-for-33) with eight RBI.

Rob Patterson, Whitby Canadians (GTBL)
This past week, Whitby's Rob Patterson helped lead his team to a 3-1 record with victories over Oshawa and East York. In four games, the veteran leader batted .417 going 5-for-12 with a three-run homerun and two doubles for an. 833 SLG%. He also registered a team high seven RBI and scored three times.

Joe Stone, Ottawa Fat Cats (IBL)
Despite dropping both doubleheaders this past week, Ottawa Fat Cats outfielder Joe Stone batted .538 going 7-for-13 with a double, a RBI and three runs scored. Stone currently leads the Fat Cats with a .467 average (14-for-30) and has drove in seven runs and scored six times.
