Colling named "Extra Innings" Senior Player of the Week

Name: Ryan Colling
Team: Glanbrook Grizzlies (COMBL)
Position: Pitcher

Weekly Honours... The "Extra Innings" Senior Baseball Player of the Week goes to Ryan Colling of the Glanbrook Grizzlies of the Central Ontario Major Baseball League. In his opening game of the 2010 season, the whily veteran threw a complete game 1-0 shutout over the Milton Red Sox. He went nine shutout innings, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out six in the victory.

Colling has been the main workhorse in Glanbrook's rotation tossing over 600 innings since 2000. He won the COBA Pitcher of the Year award in 2007 and was the Runner-up in 2006. He has also been named the Grizzlies Pitcher of the Year four times.

Colling made history back in 2005 throwing the Grizzlies first ever no-hitter which was against the Milton Red Sox. Glanbrook won that game 1-0 as well, getting the lone run in the bottom of the ninth on a walk-off double.

Honourable Mention...

Alex Bruce, Markham Pioneers (GTBL)
In the first week of the season, Bruce helped lead the Pioneers to a 3-1 record as he batted .462 (6-for-13) with a double, homerun, two RBI and a .769 SLG percentage.

Mike Arsenault, Whitby Canadians (GTBL)
In his first game of the season, Whitby Canadians southpaw Mike Arsenault fanned a career best 14 Thornhill batters over five innings of work leaving the game trailing 1-0. He currently leads the GTBL with 18 strikeouts.

Cody Mombuquette, Ottawa Fat Cats (IBL)
Despite dropping two of three to the Mississauga Twins this past week, Ottawa Fat Cats Cody Mombuquette went 8-for-11 (.727) with three RBI and four runs scored. He currently leads the IBL with a .563 average (9-for-16).

Branson Joseph, Mississauga Twins (IBL)
Joseph had a strong opening week for the Mississauga Twins as he led the offense with six hits going 6-for-12 (.500) with five runs scored. The Twins took 2 of 3 games from the Fat Cats.
