The Whitby Canadians have announced the addition of former NCAA Division I and Intercounty League standout Matt Tosoni who is expected to join the team this week for games in Oshawa and Martingrove.
Tosoni is a fierce competitor, and is recovering from 2009 reconstructive surgery on his rotator cuff. The 6-foot-5 lefthander will spend time in the outfield, at first base and DH for the Canadians while working towards a return to the mound.
Tosoni is a graduate from Father Leo J Austin high school Whitby, and spent four years at St John's University playing for the Red Storm. Tosoni also spent four years with the Oshawa Dodgers of the IBL.
